Pentru cei care nu stiu, sunt plecata in Caravana Secretele Machiajului, un tur de forta in Romania, cu seminarii de make-up, impreuna cu Sinziana Iaru.

O fotografie corect realizata, poate sa va aduca 10 clienti in plus.

Pe curand,

A voastra,

Andra

Why you should take professional photographs of make-up

For those who don’t know, I’m away on the Secrets of Make-Up Caravan, a tour de force in Romania, with make-up seminars, together with Sinziana Iaru. The road has already brought us to Bistrita and we’ve met some wonderful specialists. Things are happening exactly the way we wanted them to, the online is moving in the offline and the community is being created. In Galati, a participant asked me to write more articles about make-up artists, about how they can improve their careers; therefore I decided to write an article about why you should take professional photographs of make-up.

We all have a smartphone with a good camera, which gives us the impression that the photos are wonderful and we don’t need anything else, especially since there are 4-5-6 apps on the phone that retouch them. However, real make-up artists need professional photos that represent them and that can constitute a business card.

I literally go insane when I see that specialists choose to post on social media photos that do not belong to them, taken from Pinterest. I will not elaborate on the idea of copyright, because I have talked before about the difference between copying, stealing and inspiration, I just want to point out the importance of professional photographs in the portfolio of a make-up artist.

Out of 10 photographs posted on social media, at least 4 should be professional, a harmonious photograph, with the right frame, that brings out the whole, not just the make-up. I often see photographs taken with the cell phone, in which the poor model is practically deformed, the photograph is taken from a higher angle, and it shows a huge nose and an eye that takes up the whole screen. That’s not the way to present a make-up; a make-up is presented to future clients showing a correct photograph, as close to reality as possible.

Because our budget and time do not allow us to have ONLY professional photographs, once in a while you can talk with a photographer and create small collections of photos that you can use over a longer period of time, ensuring that you have a way to promote your make-ups.

A make-up artist must always maintain a friendship with a photographer with whom they can team up and promote each other. In our team we have several photographers, depending mainly on the type of project we are doing. For example, in the Secrets of Make-Up Caravan, joining us as partner is Mihai Raitaru. A very talented young photographer that we recommend you engage in your make-ups, ensuring that you can always promote your work appropriately. You can find more of his projects on the website http://mihairaitaru.com.

Don’t wait for the wedding season and have the brides send you wedding photographs; create your own collections, come up with make-ups and build strategies, it’s the only way you can show your future clients the importance you give to your career.

A correctly done photograph can bring you 10 extra clients.

See you soon,

Yours,

Andra
