Cum sa isi arate maiestria make-up artistul, daca nu arata un before and after. Atunci cum ma promovez se intreaba make-up artisul.

Cel mai bine e sa ne punem in locul clientei. Sa ii intelegem nevoile si dorinta de intimitate, sa intelegem ca o expunere de before and after atrage dupa sine si comentarii si poate ca unele comentarii nu sunt chiar ce ne dorim.

Prietena mea, Sinziana Iaru, alege sa se promoveze facand before and after pe ea. Ea accepta expunerea si o imbratiseaza fara probleme.

Caci numai asa veti primi respect inapoi.

Pe curand!

A voastra,

Andra

Pictures before & after applying makeup. Are they a good idea?

Usually, when the client sits on the chair she has hollow eyes, dehydrated lips, pocketed eyes, spotted skin, two or three imperfections, perhaps even irritated face. At the end, when she stands up, she often has taut and brightened face, bigger eyes, smaller nose, contoured and hydrated lips, protruded cheekbones and Cupid’s bow and longer eyelashes. It is a change that the woman wants to make because she feels the need of outlining the existing features, the need of more colourfulness. The result, amazing as it is, sometimes sticks only in the professional's mind and in the client’s soul, because the before & after pictures are not often taken, and when they are, it usually takes a lot of begging. And so the question arises, is it ok to ask our clients to appear in such a collage?

The answer is complicated, just like makeup steps. J There are two aspects to take into account, the client's desire for intimacy and the makeup artist's desire for exposure. How can a makeup artist show his mastery, if not by showing a before and after picture? Not to mention that some clients don't even accept to show ONLY the after picture. Because they don't want to be exposed in any way in a portfolio. Then what? Then the makeup artist asks how he can promote himself.

The best thing to do is to put ourselves in the client's shoes. To understand her needs and desire for intimacy, to understand that a before and after exposure entails comments and maybe some comments are not what we really want.

My friend, Sinziana Iaru, chooses to promote herself through before and after pictures of herself. This way she is sure she doesn't disturb any client. She accepts and embraces the exposure smoothly. And for that I admire her. She will give you more details about it at #CaravanaSEcreteleMachiajului where she will also talk about an effective before and after.

The make-up artist can promote herself by choosing other methods, like taking more professional pictures, doing tutorials and self-makeup, just like Sinziana, or by choosing to take before and after pictures of models who are used to it and who are not bothered by it.

Sometimes the question "Can I take you a picture before to post it on Facebook?" may inhibit a person and even block her, making her incapable of saying that in fact, she doesn't agree, that it makes her feel bad, that she doesn't want to do it. So be careful to whom you ask this question and the way you do it. Explain to your client the reason why you want a before and after picture and if you really feel openness from her, then post it. If you don't feel openness, then keep it just for you.

Remember that I most advise you to respect the person in the chair because it is the only way you receive respect back.

See you soon!

Yours,

Andra
